about
Well, my name is Rob & I like to design and develop websites, some for fun, some to make a living. I have a beautiful wife, an over energetic 3 year old son and another baby boy on the way. I currently work for Chemtel Inc as their web master of more than 20 sites, I also am the owner of Tampa Bay web Developers which I plan to be quite successful. When I’m not glued to the computer working on different website, I love to spend time with my family, play video games and fish. You get to see a little of all that here from time to time.
I first got an interest in web design several years ago by my dad, but never really dug into it until maybe 3 years ago when I built my first site, Aiden Online. As my interest grew, so did the knowledge of basic design with boring square & image-less sites. I began searching out better was to design websites and discovered Photoshop, what a great program, but pricey. After making a handful of layouts, it was time to actually code one, but that sent me into some more searching because I had to learn how to properly use CSS rather than rely on those crummy tables. I practiced and read and practiced and read some more until I finally got a complete understanding of what need to be done to go from Photoshop to web with clean and valid HTML/CSS.
After a year of making templates and coding templates, I wanted to expand my knowledge and that’s when I started reading into PHP. PHP has been a tricky thing for me to learn because I am teaching it to myself. Over the past two years in playing with web programming, I have developed strong skills in PHP, MySQL, jQuery and even some ASP. I have also become very familiar with some of the popular Content Management Systems like Joomla and WordPress.
A couple years ago my father and I discussed starting a small web design company. The idea was tossed around for some time, then we both got too busy to work on it. In August my father pasted away so I thought one way to commemorate the person who got me started in web design, was to make our idea a reality. And then with the support of a friend, Tampa Bay Web Developers was born. While it is still in the early stages, we are working very hard to get things rolling…
